Survived hell week; Another yet to come

Finalization of our investigatory project, completion of requirements for various subjects, NAT review, and paper works to be submitted at the end of the week. These are just some of the things that I was struggling with this week. Today, I was finally free from all that stress that this week has given me since this day, February 22, 2013, marks the last day of our classes!

There's no need to celebrate still. For the following week to come, our class was invited to attend the celebration of the Bamboo Organ festival on Sunday night, sponsored by some foreigner. Instead of some catching up on some Zs this long weekend, I will be busy studying for our finals.

The report date for UST, the school I still sought for, is on Monday. It's a good thing that my mom called ahead of time because the Office of Admissions told her that UST will be closed on Monday! They told my mom that we only have to visit their website to reserve for slots on Monday. Bummer.

It will also be the week for our final completion of requirements. A musical play on Pitch Perfect will also be two weeks from now, and I don't know yet if I have to contribute something there or not. Hah! Ever since second year, I've been helping out as a lights director or a lights man/woman, whatever, and I think that I'm gonna be doing the same. I'm not really sure yet since no one instructed me to do anything haha!

As for our finals, I will just be cramming for the Makabayan exams day. Taking four tests at the same day following the regular classes is not that easy! I have been ranting about that since freshmen year and thankfully, I survived the past few years so bring it on, February 26!

I am so close to graduation. After finals week, we will finally be having our graduation practice! Not that I'm excited for the practice itself though, I know that we will be scolded and harassed  to sing or act or whatever  numerous times for us to satisfy their needs. Anyway, my co-editors and I are planning to make the second issue of The Josephian during the graduation practice just to get away with it! *insert my smug face here*

Expect another blog post next weekend!

Para Thrilla in Manila Part II! 2.15.13

I have been a fan of Paramore ever since grade school and I was lucky enough to be able to attend their concert last Friday night!

Definitely one of the highlights of my 2013! It was my first time attending a concert like this because ever since, the only concert I go to is the Bamboo Organ concert! Haha!

We arrived at the Arena with mewithoutYou playing their songs. It took a while but when it was past 9 PM, Paramore was already onstage! Their opening song was "Now" and its too bad that I didn't listen to it ahead of the concert so I wasn't able to sing along. Anyway, I enjoyed the opening song with the pretty lights! It was so funny because I was with my siblings during the concert and they didn't know almost all of their songs haha! It turned out that I was the only one singing along with Hayley (and her vibrant red hair) among my siblings!

Here's their setlist:
  1. Now
  2. That's What You Get
  3. Born For This
  4. For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic
  5. Decode
  6. Renegade
  7. Pressure
  8. In The Mourning
  9. The Only Exception
  10. Let The Flames Begin
  11. Fences
  12. Looking Up
  13. Ignorance
  14. Monster
  15. Brick by Boring Brick
  16. Hello Cold World
  17. Misery Business
I was glad that they played one of my favorite songs - For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic! Too bad they didn't play Where The Lines Overlap and All I Wanted :( But it was okay because it was so much fun! Two hours with Paramore for 1,800 pesos was so worth it!

My favorite part was when Hayley sent out flying kisses all over the crowd. They were all so kilig! Hahaha!
Aaah I already miss those rocking lights that night. I really enjoyed my first concert! I'll definitely attend again if ever they come back! :)
Friends, expect me to sing Paramore songs for the next few days.

P.S. DSLRs weren't allowed inside so we only have our phones and tablet to take pictures with so sorry for the low quality pictures.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Got this from my CO, Noel! Ironically, what I gave to my officer last year is what I got this year! Hahaha!

Gifts from Jesse! I was teasing him that time because I already knew what book he's gonna give me. Thus the denial.. haha! It was very cute, you guys. I was glad that I was able to spend time with him even just for a moment (and no I'm not gonna break into a song haha). I was hoping that I made him happy too..

Valentine's Day is a day of love, so they say. But, we should remember to express our love not only today but for the rest of our existence! :) Everyday is Valentine's day!

Two weeks left!

I seriously cannot contain myself knowing that we're only just a few weeks away from graduation! My teachers have been rushing to teach all the lessons they have to because in two weeks' time, we will be having the very last periodical test of our high school lives.

As much as I want to do everything I want whenever I wanted to because I'm a graduating student, I can't because we're loaded with a bunch of school works. They're mostly paperworks like our friggin' investigatory project which is so hard because our sport is lawn tennis to think that tennis courts aren't that easy to find because not much people play it. That is except if you're outside the country. We have the biggest court next to basketball and we have to get the mechanical energy, momentum, etc. of the friggin' tennis ball.

I wanted to finish 1Q84 so bad but all these schoolworks and lack of sleep is restraining me from doing this. All  the free times I have would be for making some assignments, studying for quizzes and catching up on some Zs. In addition, my dad is having a vacation here from Australia so we only have the weekend to bond with each other and stuff since we have school. My family's spending too much time on each other. Heh

I'm two books behind on Goodreads. Like whut. I would really like to achieve this goal of reading 25 books this year but ugh all these hindrances are freakin' annoying. I'm also stressing on the second issue of The Josephian already because I don't have the creative juices YET to make all my articles. I haven't really checked yet if some members of the YJWG has submitted their news articles but I hope they did already!

I hate myself for stressing over the things I shouldn't be stressed about. :(

It's almost Valentine's day and I'm not ready yet. I still don't have all the baking needs because I wasn't able to be with my parents when they bought groceries last Sunday. My plan is to bake brownies for my Lunchmates because they would eat everything you give them as long as its edible. Haha! As for my boyfriend, I still don't know what to do. Heh. Talk about cramming.

I got a phrase stuck in my head (in Tagalog) which is something like "dadamayan ka sa pagpuyat". I'm thinking of making a poem out of it and submitting it to our school paper but meh, I am so not into poetry. You see, I'm this kind of person who is always, always going straight to the point. I think that poetry is all about symbolisms and so much creative writing. I'm not really a fan of symbolisms and whatnot because they're too boring for me (don't hate me people) and it requires so much creative juices that I cannot afford. Or I it's just something I don't want to try... I don't know! All I know is that I'm not into poetry. If ever I'm going to write one, it's not gonna be good because it's like making a stanza out of a paragraph or something.

Also, our batch is going to take the National Achievement Test.... again. We have been taking that since grade six and it's annoying because it's always our batch who gets to experience the same thing over and over again! What about the other batches, DepEd? Have you ever thought of that? Over the years, you made our batch a bunch of guinea pigs -- always experimented on. :<

Late night thoughts. Welcome to my twisted world.

A Tribute To Our Teachers

To end the month of January, our school celebrated the annual teachers' day. First thing in the morning, we, the CAT officers, brought out our swords and used it to give our salutes to the teachers, counselors, and whatnot. Before the mass, our class gathered up in front of the faculty room to surprise our adviser with her banner and some balloons.

After the mass, the CAT officers and COCCs took charge of every classroom so as to maintain order. While waiting for the grade school's program to end, I just roamed around (Batas ako, bitches!! lol), went in and out of different classrooms, and goofed around with my classmates.

We were so bored! After several hours of waiting, finally, the grade school was finished. The high school students' program started off with the parade of teachers.

The theme for this year is Take A Stand For Teachers. The program was Metro Manila Film Festival 2012 inspired. The class presidents, club coordinators, varsities, CAT officers, etc. were grouped and assigned to different films that were shown last December. Starting from the least grossing to top grossing film, we never failed to keep our teachers entertained with different acts and dance productions. :)

The program just lasted for an hour or so. The wait was not worth it.. haha but we'll do everything for the sake of the entertainment of our teachers!

Sorry if the post was too news article-ish :(

Think of me when you're out, when you're out there

I spent literally the whole weekend with my family! My sister only gets home once in a blue moon because she's dealing with the life of a med student. Anyhoo it started with a bowling night! I missed this so much because the last time that we played bowling was two years ago, I think. Haha. And I super enjoyed it this time!

Afterwards we went to Blue Wave to just hang out. I was dead tired so I didn't take any pictures. Hahaha. The next day, I was supposed to have my investigation proper for our Physics subject but due to several complications, I went with my family to Manila Ocean Park instead.

We also had our family picture taken that day at Fujifilm MoA!

That night, we also traveled to Tagaytay so we could have an overnight stay there just because. In the hotel room my siblings and I just watched a movie while my parents were out watching bands somewhere. The next day (which was today, Sunday) we slept the whole morning and had lunch at Bag of Beans, Tagaytay.

The food was good, as always. I loved the buttermilk pancake! It sucks that I only tried it today. I will surely try all the other pancakes next time we eat there! T'was a long time also that we ate there so we were surprised that they had more parking spaces unlike last time. Afterwards, we visited the ever famous Pink Sisters chapel and bought cloister cookies!!!!

It was a long and tiring but fun weekend and I haven't done anything for school yet. Heh! I'll start now, swear!

P.S. I've been listening to Paramore songs lately since their concert will be 12 days from now. Thus, the blog title. Hahaha hyped!!

Passed-Wait listed-Failed

After several months of waiting for the results of my college entrance exams, finally, the results are all out! I only took three entrance exams namely UPCAT, USTET, and MSAE. It's just so ironic that the very last test I took was the first one who posted the results and the very first one (which is UPCAT) was the last to post the results. So here's what happened:

Mapua Institue of Technology: Passed
Even though I passed, I don't think that I would want to study here. Studying in Mapua is like letting yourself be eaten by wild tigers. Even though the tigers look cuddly and all that, they can still eat you in just one sitting. That's torture. And that's how I'm gonna describe studying in Mapua. I'm not even exaggerating. Err maybe a little haha

University of Santo Tomas: Wait listed

Well this disappointed me too much. The day that the results were out in UST, I immediately texted my sister to ask her former blockmates to go and check if I passed or not. I was really having high hopes of passing (and by I mean passing, I mean you have sure slots and all that) and this is what I get. But then again, I thought that some people are dying to be even wait listed in UST so I'm still thankful for what I got! Now  I just have to wake up VERY VERY VERY early on the 25th to reserve a slot.

The only dilemma that I have now is whether to continue on my Architecture dreams or that of Journalism. Anyhoo, wish me luck!

University of the Philippines: Failed

I wasn't really rooting for my passing because:
1.) I don't really want to study there.
2.) It's UP for Christ's sake!
3.) I can't handle anymore pressure from the smart people around me haha

But hey, look at Perilla, Frances Stephanie Llanes!! My surname is Petilla and it's so funny seeing a person's surname that almost looked like mine. Haha!

I'm planning to take an entrance test in Lyceum of the Philippines University--Manila so I would have a fallback in case I fail to reserve a slot in UST. But I really do hope to study in UST because I don't want to study anywhere else!!!

Congratulations to all those who passed, who were wait listed, and even for those who failed. As they always say, these four major universities - UP, UST, DLSU, and ADMU - aren't the only schools in the Philippines. Sure, these schools are great, but no school can really assure how successful you will be in the future because it is YOU who will determine if you'll be successful or not. Your future is in your hands! Hahaha. All you have to do is study hard and work hard.

Ten years from now... you'll see. :)
